Google to release Google TV next week under Honeycomb 3.1

Apple TV has finally found itself a competitor in the market. In a week time, Android will battle for a share for mobile TV with its new Google TV application which will be powered by no other than its Android platform. Google TV will be using Android 3.1 which is Honeycomb and currently there is no telling whether it will be made available on Ice Cream Sandwich or not.

Google TV was supposedly due earlier with the release of Sony Google TV and Logitech Revue but apparently the previous version of Android that was available on these devices were deemed unsuitable for the software itself. That is why these devices will be updated to Android version 3.1 in the short future.
Some of the new features that will be made available on Google TV are of course a revamp of its design on which to us looks absolutely pleasing, additional applications such as YouTube, Amazon and even NetFlix on it. Suffice to say that with Google TV, there will be no other need for any other additional hardware to run anything else as most operations can be controlled through the application. Moreover, the customers’ televisions will also be more efficient as almost everything can be done with Google TV.
